The Ratty

Known as 'La'al Ratty', the Ravenglass Station is just a minutes walk away.  Heritage steam engines haul open-top and cosy covered carriages from here, up Eskdale to the terminus in Boot on a narrow gauge line.  At the head of Eskdale is the foot of England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike (978m).  There are stops along the way for those that wish to dis-embark and explore beautiful Eskdale.  The Ravenglass station has a museum and gift shop, and they often offer activity days for children.  A great day out for the whole family.
